System Architect
Statoil Fuel & Retail is a leading Scandinavian road transport fuel retailer with over 100 years of operations in the region. We have a broad retail network across Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltics, and Russia with approximately 2,300 full-service (fuel and convenience) or automated (fuel only) stations. Profile
The System Architect is a member of the Enterprise Architect team within the IT Strategy and Architecture department in Statoil Fuel and Retail AS (SFR). This role is primarily responsible for the overall design of the SFR production platform for IT-applications and services. The System Architect, together with the Network Architect will design the standards, hardware, benchmarks and operational requirements needed to keep SFR’s IT infrastructure running optimally and reliably.
Reports To Senior Director - IT Strategy and Architecture
Key Responsibilities
- Focuses on the standards and technologies for enabling systems performance qualities, such as availability, scalability, recoverability, etc.
- Evaluates, recommends and designs the enterprise’s server hardware, operating systems, job control.
- Monitors investments, lifetime costs and operating costs and designs solutions to optimize architecture with regard to investment.
- Monitors performance benchmarks provided by the industry standards and implements best practices.
- Designs target production platforms - sizes applications and services to be deployed and selects the hardware and networking configurations to use in conjunction with Project and Applications Architects.
- Participates in the drafting and follow up of Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Establishes a process to monitor existing systems for performance problems and drafts system migration plans if necessary.
- Evangelizes for “devops” type of approaches in the development processes in SFR.
Skills
- Proven skills in enterprise IT-operations
- Enterprise production environment setup and design
- Virtualization of servers and desktop environments
- Technology transitions and optimizations of server environments
- SLA, OLA drafting and revision
- ITIL Certification
- Other professional certication, escpecially in Oracle, Citrix and Microsoft environments
- Experience with optimization and design of production environments for triple net and mobile services.
Experience
- 5- 10 years experience in designing, developing, configuring, and implementing enterprise IT-production environments with diverse solutions from multiple vendors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of hardware, virtualization and mobile technologies through professional certifications.
- Ability to work within design teams and mentor IT colleagues.
- In-depth understanding of business strategy and ability to interact effectively with senior business managers executives.
- Exceptional recent graduates will also be considered.
Education Requirements Bachelors in Computer Science or higher degree. Professional Certifications in relevant technologies as mentioned above will be a plus. Personality profile (SFR core behaviours)
