Software engineer, 1 year contract Deliverables: 1.Following the handover of a project from Sales to Operations, to own the software development, configuration and testing activities required to implement the project as defined in the contract, ensuring at all times that proper software version control is used and software versions are properly stored. 2.To be fully conversant with the software design as specified in the contract. 3.To provide input to the Functional Specification regarding feasibility and best practice. 4.To own, generate and maintain all technical system documentation. 5.To assist with the installation and commissioning of project hardware and software. 6.To assist in the training of internal and customer staff on the technology utilized by the company. 7.To liaise with customer representatives on technical matters, with the Project Manager, as required. 8.To provide ad-hoc system reports and analysis to the Customer. 9.To adhere to company and the Customer’s processes and procedures in terms of service, development and project activities. 10.To interface with the protect team in defining maintenance and technical support requirements. 11.To respond to requests from the Sales and Commercial teams for software development estimates in terms of labour and costs. 12.To assist in the development or configuration of software and the installation of systems for the purpose of customer demonstrations either in the UK or overseas. 13.To ensure that quality is an integral part of the implementation of all aspects of the project by managing testing activities to assure the quality of all project deliverables including hardware, software and documentation.

Wymagania

The individual must have a solid software lifecycle background with strong skills in C++, Visual Basic, software design methodologies and a good understanding of MS Windows platforms to a fairly low level, experience of database design, SQL, Oracle and Windows driver development; comprehensive knowledge of network infrastructure architecture including LAN/WAN communications and web-based technologies is desirable. The Software Engineer must be able to work at all levels, including with senior customer personnel, have well developed communications skills, be flexible and possess good team working skills, as well as a willingness to travel and an ability to work under pressure when the project demands it.
