Python Developer (with experience of other languages)
Location: Czechy, Praga
Job description
Alpiq is currently in the process of redeveloping the internal financial system landscape and uses Python as the main part of financial risk evaluation. This role is responsible for all Python development around the financial valuation of Alpiq trading risk and will work closely with Alpiq Risk department around mathematical and financial valuation of energy products.
Main responsibilities:
- Development, Maintenance and continuous improvement of the application in Python
- Specification of design, development or management of 3rd party development , definition and organization of testing, release planning
- Preparation of application documentation
- 2nd and 3rd level support for the Python applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent degree
- Software development experience in Python (5 years) and experience of other languages a distinct advantage with knowledge of Java/SQL beneficial
- Experience with development tools used by the development team is advantage, but can be substituted by experience with similar tools or fast learning curve based on knowledge acquired during university study
- Ability to contribute to full life cycle development – analysis, design, architecture, development, testing, implementation, support, and other duties necessary to deploy business critical systems
- Analytical skills, ability to understand business needs and work directly with end users to create effective solutions
- Ability to understand and document complex business processes and translate them into solutions
- Fast adaptation to small team work environment
- Self-reliance by tasks solution combined with a strong team-oriented focus
- Good communication skills for communicating various system issues and meeting the customer’s expectations
- Effective management of time to assure commitments are met without delay
- Responsibility for tasks solution within the frame of the project
- Readiness for permanent increase of achieved knowledge level
- Language skills: fluency in English is a must, German would be an advantage
- Full time job based on standard employment contract
