Job description
Our client Alstom, a world leader in transport infrastructure, power generation and electrical grid, is building a new Power Plant in Narva, Estonia. We are currently searching for a motivated Permit To Work Engineer for Alstom. The duration of this position will be approximately until August 2015.
The Permit to Work Engineer is responsible for managing and organizing the proper application of the Permit to Work System ensuring that the procedures and safety guidelines satisfy the local rules and regulations. He communicates with all the persons who perform or supervise work where permit to work must be applied. He reports directly to Commissioning Manager. Target of the Permit to Work Engineer is to have zero PTW related incidents.
Tasks
- Ensures that the site specific Permit to Work Procedure and safety guidelines satisfy the local rules and regulations.
- Ensures that the information notified on the Permit to Work documents are clear and complete.
- Leads PTW team to ensure that system functions line with procedures and commissioning to progress without unnecessary and avoidable interruptions.
- Ensures that all necessary people are trained to an appropriate level in the safety rules according to their function on site and delivers site training to ensure competency.
- When required, gives advices to the Responsible Engineers for a Hazard Identification or Risk assessment.
- Carries out regular routine work place audits to ensure PTW compliance
- Ensures that all the precautions have been taken and put in place before the job, during the job and after the job to ensure safe work conditions.
Job requirements
- Several years of practical work experience in Permit to Work / Safety role in power plant erection, commissioning, operation or maintenance.
- Experience and knowledge of the electromechanical area.
- Previous authorisation in Permit to Work / Corporate Social Responsibility role
- Has knowledge of the process of electrical power plants and associated equipment
- Is safety oriented and realiable person
- Is fluent in English and Estonian (written and spoken)
- Has excellent organizational skills
- Have good communication and leading skills to motivate and act as a team leader
