Requirements:
- Around 2 years’ experience working in a financial control/ finance function/GL
- Strong hands-on accounting skills, journal preparation & review, preparation of analyses, Balance Sheet controls and reconciliations, P&L and Balance Sheet ownership
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or related
- Development and improvement of accounting processes and controls
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Wide ranging financial and management accounting experience, production of management accounting information including: profit and loss statements, balance sheets, narratives, variance analysis
- Fluent English speaker
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work unsupervised, showing initiative in identifying problems and posing solutions
- Strong teamworking skills
- Attention to detail, meeting regular deadlines, taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, advanced formulas)

Responsibilities:
- Main areas: Management Accounting, Forecasting and Budgeting, Financial and Tax Reporting
- Production of management and financial accounts for the UK, Europe, India and South Africa and review and oversight of the monthly results for all group entities
- Maintaining a strong financial control environment including preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and controls
- Development of budgets and forecasts for non-headcount related expenses
- Continuous improvement of processes
- The role will involve working closely with the Head of Finance, direct reports of the Head of Finance (immediate peer group) and other senior members of the wider finance department at Group and overseas offices
- Assist the Financial Controller in the efficiency and timeliness of the month end close process by ensuring delivery of team outputs within the agreed timeframes of internal stakeholders
- Review, preparation and posting of standard and non-standard journals
- Review, preparation and implementation of controls around month end and management accounts review
- Review of the P&L lines to ensure completeness and accuracy, adding value through supporting narrative
- Preparation of Branch P&Ls for review, including commentary and ad hoc analysis
- Production and review of balance sheets, associated account reconciliations and taking responsibility for the completeness, accuracy and validity of balance sheet accounts in the General Ledger
- Monthly review of variances and analytical reviews
- Corporate cash book processing and intercompany balances
- Working closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team and Business Management to deliver budget and forecast submissions for specific cost lines (except remuneration and marketing) within agreed timelines
- Working with the Finance Systems and the Financial Planning & Analysis team to implement planning and reporting system/ process improvements
- Assistance with the preparation of subsidiary financial statements in accordance with IFRS and support the group accounting team in preparation of the group statutory financial statements
- Assist in the external audit process, providing supporting schedules as required
- Prepare corporate and operational tax returns including supporting analysis and documentation
