BGP Network Support Engineer

Job description
Your opportunity:
The BGP Support Expert is a member of the Operations Team, within the Technical Department. You will be in charge of customers’ edge network implementation and support as well as the internal IT infrastructure development and support. The Support Expert operates both with the Sales Teams and R&D department to deliver high-customer satisfaction and influence product development directions.
Your primary tasks & responsibilities in this position will include:
- Project-management, remote implementation, configuration and maintenance of customer edge infrastructures, including: BGP routers, L3 switches, L2 switches, XCA-edge platforms;
- BGP networks monitoring and trouble management to occurring issues, including periodical on-call support duty outside business hours;
- Troubleshooting Internet connectivity issues raised by customers. Opening and coordinating trouble tickets with third parties including ISPs, Internet Exchanges and hardware vendors;
- Developing and improving internal procedures, documentation frameworks and IT tools for further automating recurring provisioning and support tasks;
- Support for XCA/NSI issues raised by customers, in direct cooperation with the R&D Team;
- Operating Service management, including customer monthly reports and service management calls;
- Help in the design of custom-made products and new feature sets by turning customers’ requirements into feature requests for the R&D;
- Contributing to product documentation.
Requirements
Your Profile:
- Previous experience working as Support Engineer, Network Engineer (NOC), Solutions Architect or similar;
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IPv4/v6 and the BGP routing protocol;
- Good understanding of MPLS, IGP Routing protocols and layer 2 switching;
- Experience configuring Cisco or Brocade or Juniper Routers in an Internet multi-homed configuration;
- Basic understanding of the Linux Operating System and Computers’ architectures;
- Some knowledge of virtualization technologies (KVM, VMWare);
- Analytical thinking, good troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to work under pressure respecting SLAs;
- Proactive attitude, will to solve problems;
- English and French proficiency is a must; any other language would be beneficial;
- Focus on continuous learning;
- Willing and able to work outside business hours when in need to perform an impacting maintenance; Willing and able to work outside business ours for the on-call support duty;
- Occasional travel may be required.
