Your challenge
As the Strategic Buyer, you will be the procurement expert translating business into supply management solutions and take on the challenge to work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and implement strategic commodity plans at the lowest total cost (TCO) to meet the defined requirements within the Procurement function.
Your responsibilities
- Defines procurement strategies based on business requirements for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Drives and accumulates all supply base related marketing intelligence and benchmarking for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Manages supplier potential evaluation (technologies and capabilities, strategic segmentation) for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Manages supplier risk assessments including liability Management and charge-backs for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Drives strategic cost management (lean / continuous improvement programs / Should-cost models) for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Allocates Product Portfolio to Supplier Manufacturing for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Supports Tier 2 Sourcing for the assigned respective commodity portfolio
- Defines critical components for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Ensures world-class supply base (supplier selection and allocation, standardization, negotiation and contracting, supplier performance rating and measurement) for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Ensures benchmark supplier relationships (supplier account development, supplier business review) for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
- Proactively ensures long term capacity and the availability of scarce components for the relevant assigned commodity portfolio
Your team
You will be part of the Global Casting & Metal parts Commodity Team. This team is responsible for material costs, long term assurance of supply, supplier performance and selection and supply management. They deliver added value by bringing the entire Procurement network to the equation.
We are looking for
- BS/MS degree in relevant technical discipline.
- Approximately 3-5 years of relevant working experience
- Sound knowledge of procurement, value & cost analysis, with the ability to manage supplier relationship
- Good influencing and negotiation skills, a problem solver with a strategic mindset
