Our client is, newly established in Krakow, technology services team – part of one of the world’s largest retailers of consumer goods from food to fashion.
Technology services teams are responsible for building services exposing APIs that expose functionalities and enable capabilities for various business journeys. They build modern, asynchronous, non-blocking, event-driven services exposing RESTful APIs, publishing and consuming domain events, utilizing a wide range of technologies including:
- Java 8, Vert.X, RxJava, Groovy, Scala, Kotlin
- Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Linux, Ansible, Python
- Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Apache Kafka
We’re currently looking for two developers who want to join on a position of:
Requirements:
- Java8 and ideally other JVM languagues such as Groovy, Kotlin, Scala
- Hands-on experience in development of RESTful API services and distributed systems that work at scale
- Experience with TDD/BDD
- Experience with DevOps – ideally experience in building cloud-native services and infrastructure-as-code to run the service on
- Written and verbal communication skills in English and Polish
Responsibilities:
As a Software Development Engineer your primary responsibility is to build and maintain the services along with infrastructure required to run them on.
Specifically, you will:
- Pair with other engineers to write high quality code that’s easy to understand and change
- Implement features TDD/BDD style (most commonly using Spock)
- Review pull requests and provide useful feedback
- Attend backlog grooming sessions to discuss the requirements
- Automate the build, provisioning and deployment in the cloud
- Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms using CloudTrail, Splunk, Runscope and other tools
- Build for security and data privacy
- Support your product during and after office hours via paid on-call rota
- Participate in interviews with candidates for engineering roles
