Reuters Platforms Engineering and Operations is looking for an experienced Cloud proficent technical engineer to work from our Gdansk, Poland Office. The candidate will be positioned within the Media Platforms and Professional Services team as a Site Reliability Engineer – Technical Lead.
The Platform Engineering and Operations SRE leads the analysis, definition, design for news and video production systems and provides oversight for construction, testing, installation and modification across multiple large, interdependent systems. The role requires Cloud and networking experience focusing on operations, security and technical governance processes. The SRE partners with stakeholders on large projects to provide implementation and support oversight throughout the life cycle of a project.
Thomson Reuters has a global on premise footprint of multiple large, interdependent systems and a vision to transform 80%+ on-prem to Cloud. The Site Reliability Engineer – Technical Lead will be on an operations team responsible to work with product, development and operations teams to solution, implement and support this transformation business initiative.
Responsibilities
Create and oversee architectural design for Streaming and File based video projects in the AWS cloud.
Work on a global team employing DevOps practices with a desire to automate everything
Partner with peer architects to provide architecture oversight throughout the development lifecycle.
Implement and support challenging, production-ready solutions for our clients
Construct and manage Continuous Deployment and Integration pipelines
Maintain end-to-end security ensuring projects meet best practices standards
Build and maintain monitoring for all aspects of infrastructure
Work closely with development teams to help share knowledge and improve the quality of projects
Take ownership of projects and gain professional satisfaction in achieving highly stable environments
Aid the Service Desk team with tickets and additional technical support
Work effectively to tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
Thrive in a fast-paced, often changing environment
Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify technical concepts for a non-technical audience
Implement new technologies to keep the team ahead of the technological curve
Essential Skills & Experience
Highly skilled in Unix/Linux and knowledge of Windows OS.
Good understanding and experience with AWS cloud technologies
Demonstrated ability to design and implement fully automated Infrastructure as code
Demonstrated ability to build (CI/CD) Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Github, Github actions, Azure DevOps
Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
Experience with DevOps processes and delivering scalable and resilient infrastructure.
Experience delivering end-to-end projects implementing security best practices.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience or knowledge of Cloud native tools such as Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Serverless functions
Experience or knowledge of DevOps tools such as Terraform, CDK, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, DataDog, CloudWatch
Have written Cloud Native Serverless Functions to aid in cost-management and/or resource management.
Programming in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, shell, or other languages
Experience writing documentation
Familiarity with Linux/Unix
Experience with LiveU or iNEWS
AWS Certification is a plus
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent experience
