Your role
Are you risk aware and an expert in Operational Risk Management? Do you have knowledge of implementing Operational Risk frameworks? Can you inspire others to excellence? We are looking for someone like that to:
- Ensure Operational Risk Framework (ORF) is appropriately designed, implemented well and operating effectively across all business divisions, legal entities and risk taxonomies
- Independently review, challenge and assess key ORF components (e.g. Risk Control Self Assessments, Risk Appetite Assessments) in terms of the design, quality and implementation
- Perform targeted reviews on a risk-adjusted basis, as requested by senior management or other key stakeholders, or as identified by the team
- Provide feedback, best practice examples and recommendations to stakeholders for further improvement and refinement of the ORF
- Analyse and report Framework Effectiveness metrics and results of the reviews to senior stakeholders
Your team
You will join Conformance and Framework Effectiveness Team which is within Corporate Centre Compliance & Operational Risk Control (C&ORC). The team operates within 2nd Line of Defence and is mandated to independently assess whether the ORF is implemented, adhered to, and is operating effectively and consistently across all UBS Business Divisions and Corporate Center functions globally. To achieve this, it strives to understand all key aspects of the ORF by independently reviewing and challenging key deliverables and activities against the guidelines and policies. The team is composed of staff across Krakow and London.
The purpose of C&ORC is to ensure that all compliance, conduct and operational risks are understood, owned and managed to the firm's risk appetite. Employees in C&ORC are responsible for providing independent oversight and control over the consequential risks arising from UBS's business activities at a global, regional, divisional and entity level. C&ORC's primary responsibility, as a control function within UBS, is to perform 2nd Line of Defence activities in relation to consequential risks.
Your experience and skills
You have:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in risk management, risk control, audit, compliance or a related field
- a university degree with further professional qualifications (preferred)
- risk mind-set and an established track record of effective challenge
- effective communication skills, both written and spoken, including the ability to communicate complex
- issues and proposed solutions in an effective manner
- sound know-how in the analysis of business processes
You are:
- fluent in English
- an excellent communicator, tenacious and diplomatic, comfortable to interact with senior colleagues
- and able to manage challenging situations and conversations effectively
- well organized and comfortable working independently as well as in collaborative environment
- analytical with excellent judgment, problem-solving skills and can-do attitude
- proficient with MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel) used for regular and ad-hoc reporting
