Key focus is the selection and development of the supply base to match Woodward's future needs, but also includes support of the business group based purchasing functions in the areas of strategic alignment and critical issue escalation.

DUTIES:
- Manage supplier performance in key metrics areas including, but not limited to Quality, Delivery, Responsiveness, Cost and Inventory
- Ability to lead negotiations with suppliers and influence them on any operational issue. Ensures compliance with requirements in any contractual agreement
- Drives resolution of crisis management issues that involve suppliers, including expediting, recovery plans, supplier on-site visits, etc.
- Drives systemic changes within the supply base and initiates actions to improve value to Woodward
- Supports Engineering Change (E/C) activities with supply base, including tracking upcoming E/Cs
- Drives and manages supply base to ensure compliance with purchased parts inventory objectives (supplier stocking programs, KANBAN, vendor managed inventory systems, etc.)
- Contributes to the development of commodity sourcing strategies
- Facilitates periodic performance reviews with key suppliers to review performance, establish corrective action plans, and ensure implementation of those action plans
- Demonstrated ability to manage medium/complex projects containing unknowns and risks requiring quick adjustment to planning and activity to ensure goals are not compromised
- Participation on complex negotiation teams and lead on medium complexity negotiations
- Insight into regulatory compliance as it applies to projects and activities - incorporating activities to ensure regulatory compliance
- Travels to assigned suppliers as necessary (domestic and international)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in commercial studies
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing in multiple direct procurement categories
- Solid knowledge of problem solving, PPAP Process, including FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and capability studies, and deliver these elements to suppliers when needed.
- Ability to facilitate and lead Kaizen workshops, Green Belt tools, Six Sigma and continuous improvement activities would be an advantage
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as across domestic and international functions and organizations
- Effective communications with executives (internally and externally)
- Strong use of electronic tools including MS Office programs, MRP/ERP system
