- At least 5 years experience in an accounting environment (preferable construction or engineering industry but not essential)
- Experience in! leading a team will be an asset
- Degree in the field of Finance/ Accounting (preferable accounting, managerial accounting)
- Professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA) will be an asset
- Very good knowledge of English
- Technical knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and controls
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, time management and organizational skills, attention to details, ability to work under time pressure and allocate tasks amongst team members
- Must be able to establish leadership credentials within the team and build relationship with business
- Practical working knowledge of basic Office applications (especially Access and Excel), knowledge of SQL and other applications will be an asset
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle Financials)
- Advanced analytical skills must be able to understand and interpret data
- Must be able to apply accounting/finance knowledge and technical skills to large number of diverse situations ranging from routine setup and management to fairly complex (experience gained in various departments such as AP, AR, GL will be an asset)

Project Accountants perform key functions that directly influence the profitability and financial performance of the company. Specifically, they work with project teams in the evaluation of contract terms to determine and properly establish setup requirements for projects in financial systems. Project Accountants evaluate progress, status, billing, and budgetary information submitted by Project Delivery personnel to ensure its accuracy and compliance with company and system requirements. They also provide support in other accounting and finance areas in accordance with standard procedures for general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc. Project Accountants are expected to understand and interpret data and to proactively coordinate and resolve issues with applicable members of project teams.
- Supervise a team of 6-8 Project Accountants
- Reviews projects initial set up (ensuring contractual terms are appropriately reflected in the system; project accounting files are complete, set-up and maintained in accordance with Company policies and guidelines)
- Reviews and constantly monitors project performance during projects life (performing selective periodic project reviews with Project Accountants), helps identify potential issues and suggests improvements
- Monitors project investment including A/R, WIP, BIE for the selected portfolio of projects, ensuring correct revenue recognition and timely billings
- Active participation in period close activities by analyzing month-end financial reports, reviewing commentary provided by Project Accountants, reviewing and approving necessary pre close and post close adjustments inc. cost accruals, revenue top side adjustments, provision for loss etc., identifying the need for additional adjustments
- Identifying changes in existing procedures and policies, providing appropriate training to subordinates
- Communication with Project Managers, Project Delivery Managers
- Active cooperation with other PA Supervisors and other departments (such as AP, AR, GL, PO etc.) aimed mainly at improving existing processes and streamlining communication channels, Performs standardized duties and tasks requiring the application of corporate procedures, established best practices and techniques throughout all phases of a project within weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines
