We design and manufacture a wide range of high quality equipment for municipalities, the leisure and private sectors into various global markets. Our products include playground equipment, park/urban furniture and sports equipment. We currently have a Product Engineer position working within our dynamic team based at the company’s factory in Sosnowiec, Poland. As a Product Engineer you will be reporting to the Product Engineering Manager and working within the wider European product engineering team, supporting and liaising with manufacturing and other members of the management team, as well as external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Taking on a variety of product projects, including;
- Product design investigation in support of customer, supplier or internal claims;
- Product change implementation and management;
- Product optimisation with changing requirements, manufacturing facilities or suppliers;
- Support Innovation projects regarding manufacturing capabilities;
- Oversee new product prototype builds and pilot runs;
- Support the factory team with product knowledge;
- Participate in New Product Development;
Working to agreed deadlines, from receiving list of priorities, liaison and discussion with manufacturing and other colleagues and through to the issuing of final manufacturing drawings, other required information and ERP data. Currently all drawing work is completed in ‘SolidWorks’, although some of our older drawing will be in ‘AutoCAD’ format.
Essential/desirable Skills
Technical
- Competent with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Composer would be an asset;
- Competent with AutoCAD;
- Competent with PDM/PLM systems;
- Competent with ERP systems (Jeeves, Oracle or Movex an advantage);
- Competent with the full range of Microsoft Office applications;
- Familiarity with FMEA, would be an asset;
Key Competencies/Experience/Characteristics
- Good technical education to university level;
- Minimum of 2 years direct experience of mechanical design engineer work in manufacturing industries (playground industry would be an asset);
- Good knowledge and experience in engineering drawing practices, including how to use and set tolerances, geometric tolerances and value engineering of products to optimize their function vs. manufacturing cost;
- Experience across multiple industries, preferably including:
- Knowledge of structural design and construction materials, including steel, wood and plastic;
- Knowledge manufacturing methods including welding, sheet metal and tube forming;
- Knowledge of manufacturing machining;
- Good communication skills across all levels of the organisation from factory operative to senior production and general management;
- Good language skills with English essential.
