Payroll Compliance Lead

Responsibilities:
The Payroll Compliance Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing all payroll compliance activities. This role will also involve project support in bringing compliance activities across different countries. They will act as the registered point of contact for local tax authorities.
The job activities will include:
- Review and sign off on the filing of all manually prepared regulatory returns
- Act as registered point of contact with tax authorities
- Review and assess the contents of correspondence from regulators and tax authorities and route to responsible parties or prepare responses as necessary; record the correspondence as required
- Complete company registrations and deregistrations
- Review technical payroll and regulatory changes
- Assisting project teams with the integration of additional entities into the BPO compliance function
- Participation in the design of Compliance Operations processes for new entities brought into the BPO
- Escalating risks of non-compliance to key client stakeholders as required.
- Regular review of existing compliance tracking tools and proactively monitoring the completion of compliance tasks (e.g. submission of returns and payments) by country
- Contribute to root cause analysis of compliance issues
- Update wider client team on monitoring and compliance activities and resolve option action items
- Subject matter expert in assisting the team of Payroll Processors to execute various compliance tasks as well as supporting the delivery of the relevant training courses
- Contribute to compliance related projects and new compliance requirements
- Coordination of process documentation creation
Required skills:
- BA/BS Degree
- Tax/Payroll qualifications (e.g. CTA, CIPP, CPP, CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA
- 5+ years’ experience working in employment tax or payroll within a professional services accounting environment or in industry (tech industry experience a plus)
- Familiarity with handling/being involved in payroll compliance audits and/or voluntary disclosures to tax/social security authorities/other regulatory bodies
- Hands-on project management experience and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively, be diplomatic and influence stakeholders, vendors and international teams
- Proven leadership skills in coordinating cross-functional initiatives
- Experience and a proven track record of process improvement
- Fluency in English
Desired (but not essential) skills:
- Experience of working in or leading a payroll compliance team
- Knowledge of and experience of ECP/SAP payroll systems
- Fluency/understanding of any of the following languages: German, Polish, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Swedish, Mandarin and Japanese
