On behalf of our Client, a large international company opening a manufacturing facility in southern Poland, we are looking for experienced candidates for the position of: Packaging Engineer (for EMEA).

Packaging Engineer (for EMEA)

Responsibility:
  • Lead design and procurement in all areas of packaging for EMEA, with a focus on compatibility, material flow and cost. Develop and test packages, package components and packaging systems that best meet the needs of internal/external customers and business goals.
  • Manage the key relationships with outside agencies on a project, specific basis.  Monitor agency performance and ensure that projects are executed in line with the overall global strategic plan and are on time and on budget.
  • Act as a central point of communication on multiple projects.
  • Manage Ship-N-Store returnable containers and crates operationally.
  • Forecast need for returnable containers.
  • Manage and deliver to budget, including reporting and analysis.
  • Seek and recommend suppliers for all forms of packaging.
  • Evaluate packaging design for compatibility with current or future manufacturing systems.
  • Recommend best methods for packaging.
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Materials to manage quality, cost, delivery and Logistics.
  • Provide technical and resource information to entire organization for packaging.
  • Identify, plan, execute, and control packaging projects to deliver strategic business needs for growth, productivity, and quality.
  • Advise and consult on packaging best practices to enhance business performance.
  • Direct corrective actions with service providers and vendors to resolve packaging issues. Seek out and coordinate cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for returnable packaging and drive implementation through Supply Chain.
  • Negotiate pricing with assistance from Purchasing.
  • Work closely with and be the point of contact with 3rd party Logistics consultants.
  • Review new designs and parts to recommend special packaging needs.
  • Evaluates compliance acceptance with Compliance group.
  • Maintains standard pack data and informs affected personnel of changes.
  • Updates PFEP data for containers. Resolves part quality issues caused by containers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Packaging, Supply Chain/Operations or related engineering discipline.
  • Very good command of Engilsh.
  • 3+ years of packaging experience, automotive industry would be a big plus.
  • Manufacturing, supply chain and/or logistics experience desirable.
  • Proven experience as a key contributor to budget analysis and planning.
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence with multiple types of analytic projects and assignments.
  • Working knowledge of material flow and manufacturing systems In-depth knowledge of packaging components, material compatibility and technologies related to development, testing and implementation of new product packaging and delivery systems.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts .
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects at the same time.
  • Communicates effectively at all organizational levels, both orally and in writing.
