Samskip already provides transport and logistics business to and from Poland. Our direct presence in Poland is part of our overall Samskip multimodal network that spans Europe within sea, rail, barge and road. We aim to develop our commercial activities and brand in Poland by developing and innovating the customer value proposition as well as increasing our presence locally. Your role? Selling and developing our multimodal systems, as part of our overall Samskip network, by using your unique commercial mindset.
Growing our business: this is what your job entails
As a Managing Director, you will be fully responsible for successfully building up a commercial network, achieving the set business targets, and enhancing relevant market knowledge across our organisation. You will be measured on commercial business gains, profit & loss of the commercial business, product and service development and operational efficiency. You will be the local contact point for our Poland customers.
Developing and selling our multimodal network is one of your challenges. You will be providing excellent customer contact, identifying and land relevant business and customers for profitable volume and business growth, and managing our customers’ expectations.
You will be accountable for:
- measuring and driving operational excellence by ensuring optimal utilisation of the available capacity and the agreed service levels are adhered to;
- making sure our sub-contractors achieve efficiencies that enable them to offer us the lowest possible costs today and in the future;
- continuously improving our services, processes and procedures while ensuring that we always work within the applicable laws, rules, regulations and legislation;
- efficiently and effectively communicating important developments with others to facilitate accurate and quick decision making;
- timely identifying market developments that could have an impact, both threat and opportunity, on Samskip and initiating relevant action when needed;
- acting as a Samskip ambassador by promoting our brand amongst customers, business partners and suppliers.

You are capable of creating compelling sales strategies and plans, due to your strong commercial awareness and entrepreneurial drive. Your natural flair for communicating is the reason you can build long-lasting relationships with customers. We would like you to demonstrate effective negotiation skills in order to persuade others and reach agreement. In addition, you are skilled in leadership and management, and are able to initiate and execute required relevant actions to improve results.
Our ideal Managing Director:
- holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in logistics or business, and has several years of commercial experience;
- is able to weigh financial implications of decisions and has good financial understanding and knowledge;
- can handle complex matters effectively and is able to persevere in the face of adversity;
- masters the Polish and English language, both verbally and written;
- is in possession of a driving license.
