About the role
This opportunity as a Manager, Data Science/Research combines hands-on project work as well as project and people leadership. You will:
Lead a high performing team of scientists based in Gdansk and play a hands-on delivery role on important projects
Build relationships with internal project stakeholders and provide AI subject matter expertise
Help with the Labs project portfolio management and activities such as resource allocation, planning and estimating
Drive the entire model development lifecycle, building, testing and delivering high quality solutions. You will apply best practices for conducting reproducible research and well-managed software delivery.
Share information, value diverse ideas, and partner effectively with colleagues across the globe in a cross-functional team. You will elevate and mentor teammates.
Translate complex business problems into projects with clearly defined scope. You will be accountable for timely, well-managed deliverables.
Stay current on state-of-the-art approaches and new technologies and apply them to TR problems.
Be a proactive communicator who is excited to share your work. You will be articulate and compelling in describing ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will help lead the way in the adoption of AI across the enterprise.
About you
Essential skills & experience
PhD in a relevant discipline or Master’s plus a comparable level of experience
5+ years experience building ML/NLP systems
Solid software engineering skills for prototyping
Experience as a technical leader, coordinating and guiding the work of others
Experience as a project leader, communicating with stakeholders, scoping and delivering project work
Preferred skills & experience
8+ years academic or industry experience building ML or NLP systems with the demonstrated ability to translate cutting edge research into working applications
Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into well-structured research/project plans
Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach colleagues as well as line management experience
Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala and experience delivering minimum viable products in a large enterprise environment
Outstanding communication, organization, and data-driven decision making
Publications at workshops or conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, KDD, ICML, NeurIPS, or similar
