Logistics Operations Specialist will coordinate utilization of equipment and ensure a high level of service and cost effective movement of goods for the customer. The environment is fast-paced with constantly changing demands and requires on-going attention to customer requirements, balancing of transport requests with available transport options, and real time communication of service issues with shippers and receivers. The position requires making decisions which impact cost and service on a constant basis with minimal review and requires a broad range of knowledge of preferred lanes, rates, and equipment availability.
Your responsibilities
- Maintain communication with transport service providers to place transport orders, receive confirmation, monitor important milestones
- Plan and optimize 1:1 (eg. road) as well as multi-leg (e.g. ocean and airfreight) and multi-segment (e.g. stop-offs) shipments.
- Manage transport orders and ensure that drivers are monitored and that customer service is provided on any local delivery needs and on all dedicated business.
- Calculate total transportation lead time and transport cost
- Understands different planning techniques including the functionality of transport management systems and load planning tools
- Local transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations as well as relevant restrictions and regulations
- Carrier operating model knowledge
- Support Accounts Payable for freight payment reconciliation
- Know how to work with freight forwarders and transport providers
- Ability to justify cost overruns when they occur
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or logistics management from an accredited university/college, freight forwarding degree, or 2 years of experience in transportation/supply chain experience is preferred
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple time sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers as well as fleet provider personnel
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Knowledge of transportation rules and regulations is a plus
- Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
- Experience in working with advanced TMS platforms preferred
- Knowledge of SAP will be a plus
- Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency
- Flexible team player
- 3 years related experience in transport management or freight forwarding
- Polish language C1 level or higher
- English language C1 level or higher
