The primary purpose of the CPE Deployment Engineer position is to follow CPE Deployment strategy encompassing primarily the TFT&OFT but also the in-Life service and support of these devices.
This role requires a good understanding of the deployed and supported CPEs together with the interactions and dependencies with the platforms/environment they operate on (CMTS, Soft Switch, TFTP server, CNR, etc).
This role supports all Connectivity businesses within our Client and all its operating companies to deliver solutions for the technology platforms in regards to CPEs, while working in a high pressure, and business critical environment. This includes direct day-to-day remote and on-site contact with numerous stakeholders within the company as well as international 3rd party suppliers. Close collaboration with the T&I Connectivity and Testing departments is required, as well as with the Operations in each country.
This role is responsible for:
- Execution of the TFT activities required to ensure a smooth transition of new CPE software and hardware, as well as the activation of new products.
- Execution of the OFT & mass rollout activities as required to ensure a smooth transition of new CPE software and hardware, as well as the activation of new products.
- Assure 3rd level support for CPE issues coming from the TFT, OFT, but also normal operations. Act as a glue between the country operations and the T&I organization and further the different CPE vendors to identify the root cause of the CPE operational issues, find possible workarounds to be applied.
- Work with the Testing and Connectivity departments to improve the early detection of similar issues and prevent them to re-occur.
The key accountabilities of this role are
- Perform field trials of new CPEs and CPE firmware
- Manage the mass rollout of new CPE firmware
- CPE problem support, in particular during trial and rollout phases
- Work towards the standardization and improvement of local processes around above activities
Preferred qualifications / experience:
- likely – but not necessary - to be educated to degree level in Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications and/or have professional certification in a relevant area (network-, communications- or consumer electronics engineering, natural science,...)
- Experience with working in an international and distributed team environment
- Experience with complex technology projects and test, certification and system integration activities in the telecommunications, cable, and/or media industries
- Proven track record with Software development and related project delivery activities
- Knowledge in de-bugging, troubleshooting and analysis of complex software systems.
- Substantial technical knowledge of
- IP, DOCSIS, cable modem provisioning, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, TR69
- Fluent spoken and written English – ideally other European languages
- Advantageous: STB and DTV Middleware platforms and Video Delivery technologies across different networks
