Junior Software Engineer (Audio/ Video)

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer, who will strengthen our software team located in Zielona Gora, focused on Audio/Video and graphics software engineering of our set-top boxes. It is an extremely important part of our portfolio – until today we sold tens of million devices.

You will learn about engineering: software development, integration and quality, under the watchful eye of our amazing Software Engineers. The scope of responsibilities will increase with increasing your skills. Your tasks ultimately will include:

• Audio/Video decoders setup and verification including synchronization, trick models, output control and output protection
• Implementation and integration of graphics engines – DirectFB, OpenGL, surface compositor (for subtitles, menus etc.)
• Testing and verification of implemented solutions within the Audio / Video domain
• Usage efficient debug methods to analyze crashes, memory leaks and others
• Preparing technical documentation
• Cooperate with other team members

• Knowledge and experience– essential skills for a good start at ADB are:
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as C (C++ is your advantage), which allows you to deepen your knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Linux-based systems
  • Understanding of software data and structures
• Quick learner – We want you to work like us – be an independent specialist, who knows how to do IT good. But to reach it out, you need an open mind, learn fast and talk with more experienced specialists in your team
• Problem-solving skills – you probably know that problems are an integral part of an engineer’s work. You should know where to look for information and how to compare or analyze various solutions. Your approach is key here

• Experience in Linux OS programming, possibly on embedded systems
• Relevant experience in C code cross-compilation, optimization and security pitfalls
• Knowledge of Linux internals: drivers, networking, userspace/ kernel space communication, IPC
• Video and Audio basics (codecs, HDR, Dolby etc.)
• Most common graphics engines knowledge (DirectFB, OpenGL)
