Your role
As a Junior Quant - Model Risk Management you will work within Quantitative Risk Control (QRC). You will be working in the area of model validation; you would primarily be responsible for providing independent assessment of model appropriateness and associated model risk.
You will be mainly responsible for developing benchmark models according to best industry or academic practices and planning and conducting front-to-back model control reviews along input, processing, and output / reporting components, including visualization in comprehensive model maps.
The role is located in the UBS office in Zabierzow (Krakow Business Park).
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing the model's conceptual soundness and mathematics
- Checking appropriateness of modelling assumptions, parameters, calibrations
- Summarizing review results and necessary remediation measures
- Following up on identified control gaps and monitoring progress on remediation measures
- Liaising with the model owners and other stakeholders to mitigate any model risk identified during the assessment and documentation
- Responding to audit and regulatory request
Requirements:
- Degree in a quantitative field like Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Econometrics
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to apply numerical analysis, statistics and financial mathematics techniques to solve practical problems
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, in particular the ability to explain technical topics to a non-technical audience
- Additional assets:
- Sound programming skills in one of the following: VBA, R, Matlab, SAS, C++ / C#, Java or similar
- Understanding of financial markets and products
