Requirements:
- 3yrs+ java coding experience
- Knowledge of database comms via Java either through JDBC or an abstraction framework (e.g. JOOQ)
- Experience of working within multi-threaded environments
- Proven track record of problem solving
- Experience with JUnit or similar testing framework
- Familiarity with Linux environment and command line
- Working knowledge of MySQL, Oracle or similar database architecture
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services or similar cloud infrastructure
- Good working knowledge of other programming languages besides java
- Good understanding of stateless systems
- Graduate in a numerate discipline
- Written and verbal proficiency of the English language
- Excellent level of IT/Technical literacy
- Ability to work both independently or as part of a team
- An inquisitive and questioning mind
- Enjoy working on challenging problems and presenting innovative solutions
- A willingness to take responsibility
Responsibilities:
- To design and build solutions, primarily in java, to complex problems within the financial arena
- To take responsibility for the complete lifecycle of the solutions being delivered, from design through to implementation and testing
- Assist in the resolution of day to day operational issues which may arise and implement process improvements to safeguard against such issues
- Take part in high level feasibility studies and problem analysis sessions
- Design innovative technical solutions to business problems which are both flexible and highly efficient
- Implement said solutions, primarily within a java based development environment
- Design and/or implement tests to ensure the correct functioning of delivered products
- Assist in the problem solving of any operational issues and improve products or processes to safeguard against such issues reoccurring in the future
- Continually work to improve the efficiency of the product set to enhance functionality and reduce cost
