Reuters is seeking a talented Front End Architect to be a part of a small team of high performers. You will work primarily on web-based applications helping architect and build modular, scalable, and performant UIs and mentor your peers to do the same.
We are a supportive, close knit team following Agile Scrum methodologies. We use modern common and boutique technologies like JavaScript, Clojure/ClojureScript, Re-frame, Reagent/React, Docker, and AWS. The ideal candidate is an exceptional JavaScript developer with deep web development experience, well-formed opinions, and familiarity with functional programming.
Reuters News Agency engineering team develops business-critical applications and services for the Reuters news organization. We provide publishers and broadcasters with news text, photos, audio, and video over both internet and satellite, while also providing web-scale hosted content solution to digital publishers.
About the Role
As a Front End Architect you will:
Architect, build, and test scalable web applications
Mentor peers, providing code reviews, feedback and technical guidance
Explore and implement intuitive and compelling experiences
Define strategy for, and contribute to, refactoring to meet architectural vision.
Estimate work scope and time and meet deadlines
About You
To be considered for the Front End Architect role, you will need:
Required Skills:
Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
Demonstrated ability to develop with a component first mindset
Ability to communicate design decisions and tradeoffs
Experience performing code reviews, as a mentor
Limitless interest in modern technologies, tools, frameworks, and languages
Adaptability to changing product needs to help seize business opportunities
5+ years of front end web development experience
Desired Skills:
Passion for writing clean, maintainable, well tested code
Functional programming experience
Experience with Clojure/ClojureScript
Experience with React
Knowledge of at least one web stack (Rails, Django, LAMP, etc.)
Automated cross-browser testing
Experience with Agile / Scrum process
Understanding user experience using quantitative data
