The European R2D accountant is a pivotal role in the journey to build up a world class accounting department. The European accountant takes ownership of an end to end accounting process and assures that the accounts are accurate and complete. The talented R2D accountant is a strong communicator and works closely with finance and non-finance colleagues (for example business controlling, FP&A, HR) to assure having the right insights which drives accurate provisions and accruals. Therefore, the success is dependent on the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across the company with all functions, and to put the needs of the company and the internal customers first.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple end to end accounting processes, including preparation and arranging journal entries to post period activities.
- Build a strong relationship with other finance stakeholders (e.g. business controlling & FP&A) and other stakeholders (e.g. HR).
- Carrying out monthly account reconciliation and movement tables .
- Perform analytical reviews of the P&L and Balance Sheet accounts to ensure the completeness and accuracy. This includes understanding of the underlying drivers of the accounts and pointing out risks.
- Support internal and external audit work.
- Ensure compliance with local and corporate policies and guidelines.
- Assist the European accounting manager with ad hoc projects.
- Ensure compliance with local and corporate policies and guidelines.
- Respect code of conduct guidelines, including health, safety and workplace guidelines.
Problem Solving/Judgment:
- Work on complex problems where analysis and/or situations require in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercise judgement within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and evaluation of criteria for obtaining resolutions.
- Regularly provides information, assistance, and recommendations, which are used to continuously improve the processes and insights.
- Be able to analyse certain situations and make decisions following broadly defined practices and policies.
Supervision
- Has a natural bias for action and is willing to make a positive difference to achieve higher levels of performance.
- Take direct ownership of the accounting cycles with high levels of self-assurance in achieving the goals.
- Ownership and analysis of the P&L and Balance Sheet bringing the impact of the outcome throughout the whole organization across various functions and departments.
Management chain
- The R2D accountant reports directly into the European Accounting Manager.
Education and related experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in similar roles.
- 5+ years accounting experience inclusive of solid general ledger and reporting work.
- A bachelor or master level degree, preferable Finance & Accounting.
- Working knowledge of SAP Finance software program.
- Working knowledge of Excel to advanced level.
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge and experience strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
