Are you a talented AWS Migrations DevOps engineer with an appetite for big challenges? The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in systems administration, networking, maintaining large scale, mission critical services with various underlying dependencies, deployment automation, quality assurance and preferably software development. You will engage closely with architects, engineering teams, QA, and operations teams to execute data-center to AWS migrations for medium to large scale infrastructures.
As a DevOps Engineer for AWS Migration, you will be a key member of a team of top global team executing AWS migrations for sites ranging from tens of machines to thousands of machines. We are looking for your expertise to automate data center discovery, execute network discovery, forensic machine workload analysis and sharp execution of cut-over with minimal downtime and safe process to avoid customer disruptions.
We will count on your years of experience as an Amazon Cloud Automation Expert to automate what typical sys-admins do manually. We will also be looking for your effective communication (in English) with the team and others.
- Build solutions to problems that interrupt availability, performance, and stability in our systems, services, and products at scale.
- Perform a wide variety of technical and administrative duties in overall migration planning, design and delivery.
- Work in conjunction with IT, engineering, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the application, systems, database architecture, and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity.
- Manage the establishment and configuration of infrastructure in an agile way by storing infrastructure as code and employing automated configuration management tools with a goal to be able to re-provision environments at any point in time.
- Develop and implement instrumentation for monitoring the health and availability of services including fault detection, alerting, triage, and recovery (automated and manual).
- Be accountable for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop, improve, and thoroughly document operational practices and procedures.
- Drive operational cost reductions through service optimizations and demand based auto scaling.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical software degree
- DevOps experience in Windows and Linux. Expert in playing around with shell/bash scripts to automate the most trivial tasks.
- AWS experience in EC2, S3 and CloudWatch required.
- Experience with as many of the widespread database engines - SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres
- Experience in understanding network communications and routing, both on site - switches, routers, balancers, and AWS - VPC, SGs
- Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V
- Inquisitive, able to use tools such as tcpdump, aws discovery service, wireshark to analyze traffic and identify communication flows
- Comfortable working OS configuration/automation technologies
