TechSoup is looking for a community building enthusiast with strong project and network management background. The successful candidate should have passion, strong interest and a track record of working on technology for transparency and accountability, or civic engagement and community building projects.
The position will be based at TechSoup European headquarters in Warsaw, Poland. You will be working out of a creative and dynamic office in a highly matrixed environment. Be ready to travel. The ability to work internationally across different cultures and languages is an absolute must.
The role of TransparenCEE Project Manager is to manage the implementation of the project, building upon existing successes, while focusing on broadening the existing community across Central and Eastern Europe; building cross-sectoral working groups and expanding training services, content production, and curation.
About the TransparenCEE project:
TransparenCEE is a network of Central Eastern European actors interested in using technology in transparency and accountability work. We document, catalogue and scale local solutions regionally. Our objective is to ultimately make the technology for transparency work more transparent and easier to both finance and implement. The hub of the network is the transparencee.org website dedicated to NGOs, practitioners, coders, activists and grant makers. You can learn about tech tools, read news and in-depth analysis and see who already forms a part of the community (people & organizations) and learn about our events. The TransparenCEE project is run in collaboration with local NGOs.
- Ensuring excellent program delivery through project management. Tracking and managing project resources, milestones and deliverables, including internal and outsourced work effort. Creating and managing project work plans and budgets. Analyzing and managing project risks.
- External stakeholder management. Coordination with in-country individuals and organizations to assist in implementing programs for country-specific activities.
- Assisting in the definition and establishment of consistent project management policies and guidelines.
- Maintaining communication and interaction among the TransparenCEE network and project partners with a goal to develop strategy and scale priorities and requirements.
- Organizing events, meet-ups and conferences individually and in cooperation with project partners.
- Promoting the work that has already been done regionally in the field of open government as well as the concept of open data itself.
- Spurring the adoption, iteration and scaling of best practices and specific technology tools by defining open data standards for governments and civil society as well as through developing toolkits and translating social tech solutions into local realities.
- Developing the content strategy and maintaining content of the project website and social media tools. Improving training, content production, and curation offered both online and offline.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in nonprofit sector.
- Experience in managing/developing international nonprofit or cross-sectoral networks.
- BA or other advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing or being a part of civic technology projects. Knowledge and experience in civic technology.
- Sound understanding of civil society organizations in Central and Eastern Europe as well as understanding of CSOs’ technology needs and challenges in implementing technology solutions. Familiarity with key stakeholders in Europe in the area of the ICT. Sound understanding of political developments across Europe.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Fluency in English, other CEE language a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others on a collaborative projects required.
- Excellent planning and organization skills. Excellent mediation and negation skills.
