Avid Shared Storage Engineering is seeking an exceptional Software Development Engineer and technical leader for its flagship media storage system, NEXIS. This position will be responsible for solving issues that are incumbent in a large scale distributed system, including advancing proprietary inter-component protocols, high availability, defining implementation methods to optimize system performance, and contributing code to key system components.
Requirements:
Specialized skills and knowledge must haves:
- Strong knowledge of operating system concepts
- Experience deploying SaaS in the cloud
- Experience with creating Virtual Machines
- Experience with Linux HA or Linux High Availability deployments
- Experience with Linux drivers and internals
- Knowledge of file systems (ext3, NFS, and etc…)
- Fluency in C and C++, with strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of kernel configuration and build, packaging, install and initial system bring up, including boot loading
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Ability to respond effectively and urgently to issues arising from support and sustaining of the existing products and applications
- 6+ years software engineering and development experience
- Minimum Education requirement BSCS, BSEE or equivalent experience
Nice to have:
- Large distributed system design, analysis and implementation experience
- Networking
- Experience with Corosync, Pacemaker, RedHat Cluster Management
- Experience with Windows drivers and internals
- Experience with Mac OS X VFS layer
- Knowledge of virtual file systems
- Operating system debugging skills (GDB, KDGB, KDB, and etc…)
- Programming with real-time constraints
