- Software development using OO principles, based on industry best practise.
- Understanding and manipulating the data model at a database level.
- Software development using database manipulation languages, based on industry best practice.
- Production of quality documentation to support the design and development, build and release process.
- Participating in the Quality Assurance function and assisting senior team members in end - to - end business process and solution testing.
- As part of the project team - interacting with customers within and external to the organisation, to help define requirements and develop solutions.
- Knowledge of web based java applications.
- Be undertaking a relevant third level qualification
- Have knowledge in the following areas:
- The Java language
- J2EE development experience and associated technologies (JSP development, JDBC, JMS messaging, EJB)
- An understanding of Service Orientation and associated technologies SOAP, WS-* standards
- HTML
- XML related technologies
- Relational databases (ORACLE, DB2 or SQL Server)
- Tomcat, Websphere or Weblogic experience would be an advantage
- A commitment to working within a team, and a focus on enhancing team effectiveness
