Our client, a pharmaceutical company to the new European Shared Service Center is looking for candidates for the position:
Senior VAT Specialist with German, French, Spanish or Italian

Responsibilities:
- Return preparation and filing: VAT returns, EC Listing and Intrastat returns for chosen countries
- Reconciliation and accounting: reconcile VAT accounts and making the respective VAT journal entries to clear VAT accounts; processing of payments to / from local authorities
- Audit assistance: support of VAT audits performed by local tax authorities and/or accounting firms
- Communication with internal customers: business units, tax leaders and other sub-contracted support functions to resolve discrepancies, issues and queries for VAT related issues in a timely manner by escalating to the VAT Process Delivery Lead as required
- Drive standardization, automation and process improvements to ensure VAT compliance, support development and recommendation of VAT operational processes and internal policies
- Supervise activities of specialists responsible for VAT processing/reporting
- Reviewing of tax returns prepared by specialists
- Tax advisory to other team members required to comply with local rules
Qualification:
- Education
- Undergraduate degree in Finance / Accounting
- Professional accountancy qualification (preferred, not required)
- Experience
- At least 3 years experience working in VAT compliance and advisory (experience in preparation of VAT returns for multinational VAT registrations and knowledge on different than Polish VAT jurisdiction will be an advantage)
- Solid European VAT knowledge on an advisory level and a willingness to expand that knowledge
- Has the ability to mix compliance with consulting
- Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) and hands on experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP preferred, but not required). Excel skills is a must
- Previous experience working in large multinational firm or Animal Health / Pharmaceutical industry (preferred, not required)
- Other Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in English and in addition applicable local language(s) – French, German, Spanish, Italian preferred.
