Our Senior Software Engineer role develops solution components of the highest quality to industry best practice. This is not a pure 'developer' role - it requires people with an aptitude for appreciating the bigger picture, who can question and contribute to delivering the best solution, while maintaining a focus on delivering quality and value to the customer.
- Develop and unit test complex components of FINEOS implementations.
- Work with other disciplines to refine/enhance their understanding of the solution.
- Liaise with Senior Consultants for design handover and direction.
- Take part in workshops to determine requirements and approach.
- Build and deploy FINEOS Solutions in house and on site.
- Compile and review low level Analyses and Design documents.
- Be able to work on their own, or as part of a team, to strict deadlines.
- Provide detailed estimates on work to be completed.
- Implementation of, and adherence to, processes agreed with the Development Manager to ensure the effective delivery of FINEOS software.
- The ability to succeed when not measured by individual output but the output of an entire team.
- Where needed, to act as a key contact for team members on any in-project technical issues pertaining to team deliverables.
- Contribute to the on-going innovation and improvements programme driving evolution of the development environment and release process. Continually evaluate new tools, procedures and processes for the opportunity to improve and keep pace with an effective development methodology.
- 7+ years experience in a technically challenging software development role.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Strong JAVA development Skills.
- Good practical knowledge of specific technologies:
- JAVA, including J2EE Technologies such as JSP, JMS, JNDI Application servers: Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat Databases: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server Development Tools: Apache Ant, Maven, Junit, Eclipse, Subvision.
- Experience using one or more of the following middleware and integration technologies: SOAP (over HTTP/JMS), WebsphereMQ, SOA,
- Aqualogic (Oracle Server Bus).
- Proven excellent technical problem solving capabilities.
- Experience of providing technical supervision and mentorship.
- Experience of working in a vendor environment with appreciation of the customer deliverables an advantage.
- IT Background in financial services or insurance sectors would be an advantage.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to client sites when necessary.
- Fluency in verbal and written English essential.
