In January 2015 we opened Global Competence Center in Gdansk. The Center consists of teams responsible for driving major IT and User Experience enhancements for whole European organization, with other teams like Supply Chain, Financial Analysis & Master Data Management also establishing their operations in Gdansk.
The main function for this position is to manage the support processes for the infrastructure workplace environment in Europe. This person will be E2E responsible and will budget, control all cost, plan, co-ordinate all infrastructure activities for all locations in Europe; standardise hardware, software and roles with policies to global guidelines.
He / She will manage the European resources associated with Workplace infrastructure and break & fix activities.
He / She will plan the technology refreshes and innovations in Europe, according the European heat maps and holds the budget for this and being operational responsible after go live.

- Reduce the decentralised footprint for all services
- Get all Staples locations integrated with the Staples standard solutions and processes
- Maintain a stable infrastructure supporting the European businesses.
- Create and efficient and effective organisation for field support in Europe, sourcing strategy.
- Create a yearly roll-out plan for technology refreshes and associated budget
- Leverage new tools and technology to provide the business users a better workplace experience and to lower our operating costs
- Central workplace management technology R&S and strategy definition
- Responsible for productivity tools for all users in Europe
- Standardize infrastructure to Staples global standards and processes
- Heat maps & technology roadmaps / refreshes
- Implement global security guidelines
- Bring local computer rooms up to standard and look for alternatives
- Work with Service Center to adapt Synthesis processes in infrastructure
- Manage local activities and budgets
- Manage the in country teams
- Look for possibilities to leverage local knowledge across Europe
Education and Experience:
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the workplace environment.
- Proven track record at successfully applying generally accepted best practices for workplace environment on improvement in operations, innovations and sourcing. On a strategy, tactival and operational level.
- Enthusiastic, outgoing team player who wants a career in IT. Aptitude to quickly learn Staples business systems and practices.. Passionate about providing world class technical and customer support Highly energized self-starter constantly focused on Continuous Improvement.
- Trained and/or experience with the concepts and architectures for workplace technology to include servers, all kinds of end user devices, mobile, network copiers.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both IT and other College staff.
- Identify the work required and organise, facilitate and / or perform the work with only minimal guidance from senior management
- Good analytical skills; a structured and methodical approach
