About the Mercury Solution Support Center (MSSC)
As an organization jointly owned by the business and IT, the MSSC is a centralized and global organization that will provide operational support for an integrated, SAP-centric platform (Mercury) and manage and support the Mercury user community. The MSSC will play an integral governance role in the global Mercury solution and will evolve to work closely with the business to enable the benefit and value to be realized from the investment in Mercury and to set the future direction and technology road map.
Business Efficiency and Evolution is one of the four core functions of the MSSC. Business Efficiency and Evolution will work closely with the business and the Global Process Owners to set the strategic direction and road map for Mercury, enabling process efficiency and standardization through:
- centralized business process governance
- portfolio planning, demand management and prioritization
- analysis of business requirements and the identification of process improvement opportunities, aligned with business KPIs, which can be delivered via the Mercury solution
- robust governance, stewardship and audit of Mercury data
- effective governance and management of the Mercury control framework.
As part of the Business Efficiency and Evolution function, the Demand Manager is accountable for management of business driven change requests, both short term and long term. The Demand Manager will work with the Process Integration Lead, the Process Experts, and key business stakeholders to plan and implement business driven changes in alignment with overall MSSC and business strategy. The Demand Manager will work with these groups to prioritize the work and leverage business and IT resources as efficiently as possible. The Demand Manager will have overall accountability for the demand pipeline and will be the key liason from the MSSC business team to the various IT teams such as release management and change management. The Demand Manager is responsible for managing the integrated functional road map and must ensure that projects and initiatives are prioritized accordingly and will work with the Process Integration Lead, Process Experts, and key business stakeholders to make decisions regarding the overall plan.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Provides guidance and oversight to all aspects of the business driven demand process
- Develop, define and implement the overall demand management structure & processes in agreement with the Process Integration Lead and key business stakeholders
- Develop and maintain a long term enhancement roadmap aligned with business priority as well as a periodic release based pipeline (rolling forecast)
- Develop KPIs for demand management as well as dashboards and regular reports to create transparency and tracking of requests
- Initiate and execute continuous improvement activities in the demand management process
- Attend all relevant business and decision making forums which deal with future demand and new requirements
- Management of demand and delivery related budget factors as needed
- Works with key IT groups like release management and demand management to move planned items into execution and delivery
Requirements:
- 6-8 experience managing demand in a complex global environment
- Direct experience managing demand for a large SAP implementation or other similar ERP package
- Demand management training and practical application
- Experience in managing staff and budget
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Ability to manage multiple process streams across complex product suite
- Proactively identify risks and issues, helping the team to develop risk management and issue management plans
- Communicate with key stakeholders regarding strategy, plans and status against plans
- Analysis of data to produce management information and identify and deliver continual improvement
- Provide guidance and oversight to the demand process while making certain that diverse requirements are prioritized and aligned with business priority
- Experience in demand management in a global systems (e.g. SAP) environment
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle methods, processes, tools and best practices (information systems including finance, procurement, service delivery, CRM, etc.)
- Actively develops team members and direct reports by providing day-to-day guidance, feedback and on-the-job coaching
- Actively involved in the selection process of staff members
- Key contributor towards departmental guidelines and policies
- Responsible for compliance with performance management objectives
