SAP Basis Specialist

Project Description: 100% dedicated delivery of cloud operations services from Poland/EU for one of leading Germany based client.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Architect, implement and maintain day-to-day SAP basis administration activities in a complex multi-tier SAP landscape.
- Provide operational and project support keeping focus on meeting project milestones.
- Ensure SAP based systems operate reliably and efficiently in a secure environment.
- Ensure the adherence of standards and SAP best practices.
- Maintain close daily contact with vendor led SAP Basis team regarding assignments, work progress and statuses.
- Work closely with functional and business teams.
- Be accountable for the support and proactive monitoring of the core SAP applications including installation, performance, break fixes and change requests per business requirements
- Ensures that changes to SAP are delivered in line with business standards and do not cause any detrimental impact to Mercury systems.
- Architect activities during upgrades and major releases with multiple stakeholders, working with Change and Release Management teams.
- Research complex application/System integration issues with functional teams; examine integration between various systems (SAP and non-SAP) for inconsistencies.
- Perform root-cause-analysis for problem tickets.
- Create detailed solution documentation and presentations.
- Assist with the configuration and maintenance of High Availability and Disaster Recovery SAP solutions.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery testing to help ensure business continuity.
- Input to the definition of the solution road map, integrating multiple disparate processes, and addressing short and long term organizational needs.
Mandatory Skills/Experience:
- Excellent technical understanding of SAP products with good experience in BASIS support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP technical architecture with hands-on experience.
- Good experience managing global SAP BASIS teams providing support to large Production systems in multi-tier environments.
- Experience working on SAP large implementation projects including full testing life-cycle and post go-live support.
- Thorough knowledge of SAP software and MS SQL and HANA databases, as well as working experience of key business applications including SAP ECC, BWoH, BOBJ, CRM, PI/PO, SRM, SolMan, Fiori etc.
- Experience working with SAP installations, upgrades (SAP version, EHP, SPS, Kernel, SUM), maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting of issues and tuning and optimization.
- Good knowledge on OS Windows/Linux administration, VMware virtualization, NAS/SAN storage, failover clustering, SAN replication, and other high availability technologies.
- Experience working with middleware, integration and web technologies for SAP solutions.
- Experience working with Cloud solutions for SAP (installation, configuration, migration, testing, support) Specially Azure.
- Proven track record in evaluation / recommendation of new SAP system components, solutions, releases, or upgrades.
- Strong understanding SAP Solution Manager.
- Experience in handling Incidents, Change Management and Problem Management, Release management.
- Experience developing technical documentation, designing blueprints and technical workshops.
- Understanding of the benefits of using state of the art methods and tools and their application on a particular engagement; contributing to continuous development of methods and tools.
- Excellent customer service, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of structured project management techniques.
- Experience working within a multi-cultural environment.
- ITIL certifiication is a plus.
- Fluent in English with other spoken languages a plus.
