Over the past 10 years, 3Shape has successfully launched several revolutionary optical 3D scanner products, serving the audiological and dental restoration industries. 3Shape Dental Lab scanners enable efficient digital workflows by scanning dental impressions and gypsum models, to facilitate CAD design of dental restorations. The TRIOS scanners enable high-definition, digital workflows directly in the dental clinic, and are disrupting the traditional dental workflows by eliminating the need for physical impressions of patient teeth.
To support further growth in our TRIOS scanners, we are establishing a Product Lifecycle Engineering team to improve production efficiency, product quality, as well as design for manufacture. The Product Lifecycle team will be nested in R&D and have employees in both Szczecin, Poland and Copenhagen, Denmark. The Product Lifecycle Engineering team will work on improving production efficiency and cost, product quality and maintenance as well as design for manufacture.
The position is based at our Production facility in Szczecin (Poland).

We seek a skilled Engineer or Physicist with qualifications within optics to understand the physical working methods of the TRIOS scanners.
You will analyze production and quality issues, make hypothesis about underlying physical effects, carry out experiments to verify this and implement suitable changes. You will further contribute to new product introduction and design for manufacture by providing experience and knowledge from existing production.
You will in time become the first contact point for production issues related to physics and optics.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, implementer. You further have some years of experience within development or production of technical products and an ability to work independently.
The work will be carried out in close collaboration with both local Production Engineers in Poland and R&D engineers from Denmark. Hence you can expect to travel for 10-20 days/year.
The successful candidate should possess solid technical competence – have M.Sc. in Physics or engineering with qualifications within optics, supported with:
- Development and/or production of electro-optical products, preferably Medical Devices
- Hands-on skills to design and conduct experiments with production units
- Familiarity with IT tools used for data analysis and results presentation (e.g. Octave, Python, Excel).
- Analytical mindset to find most important problems and their root causes
- Ability to propose and implement changes
- Good at communicating with both Production and R&D organization
- Upper intermediate English and Polish, both verbal and written
- Electronics, mechanics or software design
- Software for controlling lab experiments and collecting results in databases
- Building free-space optical setups and using ray tracing tools (e.g. Zemax)
- Working in projects
