The Network and Systems Specialist will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, coordination, control, security, and maintenance and troubleshooting of various technologies managed by the Information Technology department. This person will focus on the administration of servers, networks, computer hardware/software, applications, data storage, data archiving, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, security solutions, projects, as well as providing 1st/2nd/3rd level IT support to global offices.
This position reports to Global Information Technology Manager and requires excellent customer service and organizational skills to support Avid’s personnel and business units. In addition, the incumbent will promote a positive work environment by maintaining respectful interactions with peers and other constituents. This position requires the ability to function successfully in both a global distributed team and independent work environments.
The Specialist will be responsible for the areas below and may be required to perform other duties and project assignments as required:
- Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include servers, SANS, network equipment and managed infrastructure technology and software applications as required.
- Maintains data and voice network systems; investigates and resolves network and hardware matters of significance; researches, analyzes, isolates and resolves errors; assesses and updates older networks as needed and in accordance with specified plans.
- Proficient in voice, video, and app technologies/protocols (circuit, VoIP, SIP, O365, Skype for Business, Lync)
- Proficient in network and system architecture (subsystems, interfaces, hw/sw dependencies).
- Proficient in message and conference systems and networks (multiple media, notification, presence, unified communications, video).
- Knowledge in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP network Address Management, Perf, Mgmt).
- Understands Virtualization, Storage and Content Delivery Networks (Cloud, SAN).
- Strong network and voice engineering experience with a variety of vendor solutions
- Create and maintain good technical documentation.
- Perform on-site and remote technical support as needed
- Provides emergency on-call (P1/P0) support if required
- Maintains excellent communication with the Core IT Infrastructure Managers on all tasks and projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Strong experience implementing, configuring, and supporting a Cisco networked infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of all Cisco enterprise routing and switching platforms
- Hardware:
- Cisco IOS Routers
- Cisco Catalyst Switches including Layer2 and Layer3 functionality
- Cisco Security Products including firewall platforms
- Cisco Lightweight wireless controllers and access points.
- Routing and Switching competencies should include:
- EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP, QoS, STP, VTP, VLANs, Trunking, Channeling
- General best practices for wiring and cabling
- Network Assessment and Documentation
- Build and maintain Visio documentation
- A working knowledge of IP services-DHCP/DNS/WINS
- Security:
- Site- to-site and Remote access VPNs (IPsec and SSL),
- Access Control Lists and Network Address Translation (ACLS/NAT)
- AAA (RADIUS/TACACS+, Cisco Secure ACS )
- Eexperience with BGP, CheckPoint firewall, Riverbed Steelheads, Infoblox IPAM mgmt., Meraki wireless required.
Business Unit Support:
- Provide expert and creative solutions to user problems on laptops and desktop systems, to ensure user satisfaction and productivity.
- Coordinate user and support issues among corporate sites to ensure timely distribution of knowledge and positive impact on user satisfaction and productivity.
- Research, resolves and responds to end-user issues/problems/questions received via email, telephone calls, callbacks, or escalations, and provides support on desktop systems, in accordance with current standards and SLA’s.
- Configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end user telecommunications hardware/software, telephony devices, and voice/data products. Provide technical support to geographically disperse units in a mixed technology environment including vendor support
- Provide technical input across various projects interfacing with various groups within the organization
- Participate in the implementation of hardware and software solutions that meet the technology and business needs of the various business units
- Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include servers, SANS, network equipment and managed infrastructure technology and software applications.

- A minimum of five years professional experience in high-performing technical service/operations environments.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with LAN/WAN technologies, SAN technologies, MS Office Applications, Cisco/Checkpoint/Riverbed networking products, remote access solutions and security/firewall technology.
- Professional maturity, strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking and technical project management skills and be able to work well in a dynamic, team oriented environment. Experience with standard ITIL Change Management/Incident Management Policies and Procedures

- Working experience working on projects, utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies.
