An opportunity has arisen within our Games department, we are looking to expand our team in the role of Mastering Technician. This is a supporting role, working directly with the Games Operations Manager, to assist the senior QA team with preparation for and setting up desks and equipment as well as the distribution and mastering of builds and content for all QA projects in the department.
This role requires a highly motivated, proactive and ambitious individual. Good organisational and communication skills should be combined with the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines. A “hands on”, flexible attitude is a must.
Key responsibilities (not exhaustive)
- Responsible for all disk duplication, build distribution and Mastering using established guidelines and format holder specifications
- Acquiring and maintaining all hardware assigned to the QA department; maintain hardware and console inventory for the department
- Assemble hardware for workstations when necessary
- Keep records of drivers, operating systems and hardware and update when appropriate
- Keep records of firmware updates, SDK patches and development tools installed on workstations and consoles and update when appropriate
- Provide trouble-shooting support for workstations, repairing or replacing when necessary
- Liaise with IT regarding configuration of new equipment (Mac addresses, Asset numbers)
- Create and maintain disk tracking systems’ for all code created
- Create and maintain disk tracking systems’ for all code destroyed
- Create and maintain all mastering documentation
- Responsible for the archiving and storage of code
Requirements
- High standard of written and spoken English
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Office, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of video game platforms and their different media types.
- Knowledge of current generation console, mobile and handheld software.
- PC hardware and operating systems literate.
- Ability to install and support Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft office products.
- Understanding of Windows and TCP/IP networking.
- Clear communication skills (verbal and written).
- Enjoys working as part of a team and across departments.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Can demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to self-manage work load.
- Must be willing to commit to long and non-standard hours.
