Our client is a successful mobile handset manufacturer, with an impressive range of Android smartphones. The handsets are extremely-attractive, mid-market smartphones with an impressive look and feel and the same level of performance (if not better) as the leading handset manufacturers. These products are ideally suited for the PAYG market and are primarily sold through retail channels and direct to consumers, as opposed to through tier 1 network operators.
The group already operates across a number of geographical markets and with a number of different product types and has now identified a significant opportunity to extend their smartphone business into Central and Eastern Europe, ideally from a base in Poland.

This individual recruited for this role will be responsible for launching the business in this region, finalising the business plan and then commencing the sales drive as the formal launch takes place. Thereafter, the role will progress from Sales Director to General Manager, retaining responsibility for the ongoing growth and management of the business.
Our client's entry into new markets is based on a product-led, push-based sales approach, where the key relationships are with retailers and channel partners who are incentivised, commercially, to create demand for these products.
Suitable candidates are likely to be experienced Sales Director, Commercial Director or General Manager with a proven track record of sales success within the B2C handset marketplace. You will be entrepreneurial and capable of developing and launching a regional business from scratch. The focus will be on sales as the resources of the group will provide administration, finance, IT, supply chain and logistics support through the existing infrastructure.
It is essential for this rolethat you have previous sales-led success across Eastern and Central Europe and have a detailed understanding of the dynamics of this market and, ideally, existing and relevant relationships.
This role will not suitsomeone who has only worked in large corporate environments as previous start-up/entrepreneurial experience is essential. The ideal candidate is likely to have workedfor an SMEmobile operator, handset manufacturer, ODM distributor and/or retail channelpartner.
