Individual Accountabilities
- Under general limited supervision, provide direction to the business unit on elements of policies impacting the First Line of Defense
- Orchestrate and drive the successful and timely completion of Controls Assurance/Testing, including the identification and resolution of risks and issues
- Build strong relationships with other First Line Risk, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Legal, and business colleagues
Shared Accountabilities
- Participate in the discussion regarding first line risk management, including but not limited to risk ratings, (where applicable), validating control
- Exercise discretion and judgment with regard to matters of significance, such as designing an effective and efficient strategy for the execution of policies impacting the First Line; includes FLOD Policy implementation activities including but not limited to: Controls and Testing, Process Improvement, Reporting, Oversight, Training, Talent Management
- Prepare business for and assist with 2nd and 3rd Line reviews
- Continuously develop deep knowledge of core product, process, financial markets and technology
- Actively participate in committees and risk management projects as needed
- Retain and develop talent
- Provide regular feedback and dialogue to ensure optimal employee engagement
- Oversee production of management reporting
- Provide coaching and development opportunities to staff and responsible for completing and delivering PPRs on time
- Make effective recommendations to hire, discipline, control work, determine promotions, salary increases, bonuses and terminate employment
- Ensure self and team anticipates, monitors, actively manages and reports all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities
- Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model Ethical behavior and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation
- Work in conjunction across First Line Risk as well as business partners and external parties as needed to resolve issues and ensure accuracy of accountabilities, and adherence to all policies/regulations/guidelines.
- Share responsibility for problem resolution requiring other State Street team’s input
- Cultivate effective relationships with internal business partners to successfully achieve organizational goals
- Share expertise with colleagues and other departments
- Drive execution of FLOD policies with First Line and other members of First Line Risk across the company with a primary focus on results
Qualifications:
Proficiency Expectation & Education/Experience Requirements: Competent to Proficient with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a focus in related field preferred, 4-6 years of related experience including previous experience managing staff
