The mission of QIAGEN’s Digital Accelerator is to drive the digital transformation of all business units within the company. As a data architect you are key to develop and maintain the data lake, an infrastructure to monetize the value of internal and external data available at QIAGEN. Your responsibility will be:
- Lead architecture and design activities for the data lake.
- Keep the data lake up-to-date with new advances in the field of data engineering / data science.
- Oversee data engineering efforts to ensure development in-line with big picture.
- Provide guidance to data engineers.
- Take responsibility as the data-lake product owner.
- Take “make or buy” decisions when standard tools are not sufficient.
- Monitor and maintain the data lake.
- Work closely with the QIAGEN data science team to develop and maintain data driven solutions for structured and unstructured big data.
- Support global business teams to leverage data potential within and across business units.
- University degree in computer sciences, natural science, mathematics or similar.
- Experience in designing and developing data lakes and data processes.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally MS Azure.
- Solid conceptual knowledge of distributed and non-distributed data processes.
- Experience in guiding data engineers or software developers.
- Deep knowledge of data technologies and confidence in making toolstack decisions.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- High motivation to work with state-of-the-art technologies and interest to stay up-to-date.
