This is a role within a newly created service which is being run across the entire PwC network globally, called Cross Border Engagement Services (CBES). CBES consists of various offerings including technology-solutions re travel and corporate tax risk management, but also includes Cross Border Engagement Advisors (CBEAs) - organised regionally in EMEA, AsiaPac and Americas. CBES’s remit is to enable the PwC Network’s cross border business, while managing all cross border risks associated with increased international business travel and collaborative working.
The role will be based in Warsaw, Poland, and will report to the lead EMEA CBEA, based in London. Specific responsibilities include supporting the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) engagement teams who work across borders, either within the CEE or elsewhere, whilst working with the relevant stakeholders to help support the global CBEA network. The CEE consists of 29 countries.
The primary purpose of the CBEA is to mitigate risk to the network by providing guidance and best practice on cross-border issues to enable compliance with work country laws and regulations. The compliance risk areas involved include (but are not limited to) personal tax, corporate tax, payroll tax, indirect tax, social security, immigration issues, cultural awareness, internal PwC processes, PwC licensing rules, security and health issues. In addition, the CBEA advises on the costs associated with rendering cross-border services to make sure that these costs are considered when managing an engagement’s profitability.
The CBEA should also contribute to the thought leadership of the network by gathering knowledge and suggesting white paper discussion topics on cross-border services; by recommending improvements, as warranted, to existing cross-border policies, procedures and operations in order to minimize risk and maximize engagement profitability; and by identifying ways in which technology or other processes can be used/implemented to better streamline the CBEA service delivery.
- Fluency in English.

Alternatively, a strong business background with familiarity of the globalizing economy and/or a history of international business travel is strongly preferred.
- Should possess a client service mentality and be able to build and maintain several deep and trusting relationships across the network.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Solid command of G Suite (especially Google Sheets and Slides) or MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint)

- Must have experience with a large professional services firm and be able to work in a matrixed environment.
- Must be able to work in the CEE and be happy to travel occasionally.
- Working with the various PwC member firms and other stakeholders to research, analyze and evaluate immigration, tax, payroll, regulatory and other issues arising on cross-border engagements and other cross-border travel for the CEE.
- Developing and providing guidance on pricing and costing of cross-border and global jobs to help maximize profitability for CEE engagements.
- Connecting engagement leaders with contacts in foreign territories who can provide advice, as needed.
- Assist the EMEA CBEA leadership on building the working model for CBEA services within the assigned geographic region which includes forming deep relationships with the business and various subject matter specialists.
- Actively collaborate with the wider CBEA network at developing and delivering training regarding the scope of services and marketing these services within the region, as warranted.
- Recommending and developing solutions for improving the quality and efficiency of services delivered by the CBEA network.
- Working with more senior CBEAs at refining the processes as needed to reflect regional differences and communicating best practices related to functional areas and cross-border services in general.
- Researching, maintaining, and updating subject matter expertise in the fields of cross-border services, international business travel practices worldwide and the global economy in general.
- Staying abreast of and assisting in the development of network “CBEA technology.”
- Supporting the learning and development of subject matter expertise for the other CBEAs, including, but not limited to developing and delivering learning and education to fellow CBEAs about the CEE specifics, and training/developing newer CBEA team members within the CEE region as the team is likely to grow.
- Acting in partnership with and working across geographic and organizational boundaries with the groups that support the CBEA network.
- Acting fairly and with integrity in complying with PwC network and individual PwC firm policies.
- Employment contract for indefinite period.
- Flexible working hours and working from home.
