- Kaizen: Create a culture of continuous improvement through kaizen. Drive stepwise improvements in safety, quality, cost and delivery through kaizen events while harnessing the power of daily kaizen
- Quality Processes: Ensure the division is implementing the appropriate lean methodologies, e.g. VSM, standard work, pull systems, SMED, TPM, cellular manufacturing, 3P etc. to maximize productivity, capacity and throughput while minimizing lead time and WIP
- Transactional Processes: Lead the implementation of the appropriate lean tools, e.g. VSM, Transactional Process Improvement, variance reduction, etc. to maximize productivity and minimize lead-time in the front and back office areas
- Vision/Strategy: Ensure the definition and development of the division operational strategy. Support the roll out of the site operational excellence plan in support of the overall strategy
- Problem Solving: Instil a culture of problem solving throughout the organisation. Ensure that every level within the site utilizes the A3 problem solving methodology following the PDCA cycle. Application of problem solving spans from the 5 whys to Six Sigma Black Belt initiatives.
- Culture: Ensure the division establishes a proper governance and roadmap to accelerate the transformation of the operations leveraging the implementation of OpEx systems including tier meetings, business control centres, standardized metrics, etc.
- Profitability and Growth: Lead efforts to identify and implement opportunities that will enhance profitability and growth for the division and site.
- Best in Class Team: Support and mentor a highly talented OpEx team within the site. Select, develop, lead and coach the team with the goal of meeting/exceeding targeted goals.
- Process-Orientation: Identify and implement best in class lean processes and business intelligence to further enhance the pursuit of excellence
- Strong, demonstrable lean deployment in a regulated (ideally scientific) setting is required
- Experience in leading the transformation of a manufacturing site through implementation lean methodologies
- Previous experience in leading OpEx initiatives across a scientific organisation.
- Experience leading the implementation of lean management while spearheading the change management process.
- Previous experience in medical device or pharmaceutical company is preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge of, and familiarity with, all TPS/Lean and Six Sigma tools including but not limited to: VSM, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, Cellular Manufacturing, Lean Management, 5S/Visual Management, 3P, SMED, TPM, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction & Six Sigma. Black Belt certification is desirable but not required
