The AX 2009 Functional Consultant core responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Being a Subject Matter expert on the existing ERP Systems (Dynamics AX09
- Managing both run and change on the ERP System
- 1 st Level Support - Respond and resolve help desk request related to the ERP system and other applications as per the Service Catalogue
- 2 nd Level – Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests
- 3 rd Level – Where certain domain knowledge is available – resolve run and change requests and issues
- Third party vendor relationship management and escalation – where required escalate to our AX Managed Service Partner
- Create, update and close Tickets for run and change related to ERP and associated applications integrating with AX
- Management of ‘small change’ i.e. not large enough to be deemed a project
The role requires a good knowledge of AX Standard and there will be a need to understand the customization introduced into our AX 2009 system. The role requires a certain degree of technical acumen, a high level of business analysis, a deep understanding of the business, customer facing skills and will have significant input into future strategic decisions advising the IT management.
The role requires adherence to the Group IT Manual and ensure its enforcement and compliance where applicable – notably Project Management, Change Control and User access management.
Currently we heavily rely of third party support to resolve queries ranging from ‘HOW DO I....’ to more complex queries regarding AX. It is our intention that this role will reduce the need to contact the third party.
While we have not decided on their new ERP, the individual will contribute significantly to future ERP projects.
Note – this is a broad role and the purpose above is indicative as opposed to prescriptive.
Essential Qualifications, Training and Experience:
- An appropriate IT qualification e.g. BSc in IT related field
- Expert AX ERP knowledge
- A proven track record delivering supporting AX Applications

- Tickets are resolved in a timely manner

- Highlight any application and process issues to manager so that issues may be addressed and
- appropriate action taken
- Work with the IT Team and the business to ensure that the ERP system(s) meets published SLAs
- Work with the IT Team, the business and project teams to ensure that all assigned projects are
- successfully delivered on time and within budget
