Associate Global Standards Screening (GSS) Research

POSITION PURPOSE
We are looking for an analyst for our Global Standards Screening (GSS) Research team in Amsterdam or in Zielona Gora. As a member of this team, you will conduct assessments and analysis of a company’s impact on stakeholders and the extent to which a company causes, contributes or is linked to violations of international norms and standards related to Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, such as Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environment and Business Ethics. Our research helps asset owners, investment managers and other stakeholders incorporate extensive ESG and sustainability information into their investment decision making processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor news and incidents related to companies on a daily basis, based on the inputs from a dedicated news screening team, to identify severe and/or systematic (potential) breaches of international norms and standards related to Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environment and Business Ethics
- Conduct extensive, in-depth research and analysis on a company’s potential breaches of international norms and standards related to the above-mentioned topics, and produce robust and compelling assessments of the company
- Prepare and present a proposal for company assessment changes at the Oversight Committee
- Prepare high quality write-ups for case profiles based on the analysis conducted, in line with the Sustainalytics writing guidelines
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the organization as necessary
- Engage with companies as necessary on our assessment of them
- Support Content Leads in responding to client queries about our assessment of companies as necessary
- Contribute to the development of internal intellectual property and thought leadership through methodology reviews and other projects
- Participate in quality assurance processes prior to the research delivery, as necessary
- Supporting junior analysts in core research tasks (L4)
Requirements
- Graduate degree in related discipline (business, finance, environment and/or social science);
- At least 2-4 years of relevant work experience;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry and/or international law, norms and standards
- Knowledge of the following industries considered an advantage: media, technology hardware and software & services
- Excellent research, analytical and writing capabilities;
- Excellent business English oral and writing skills are essential;
- Knowledge and understanding of the SRI/RI market considered a plus;
- Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values;
- Meticulous and attentive to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Resourceful, flexible and independent;
- Ability to embrace change and work in a dynamic environment;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
